The Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in India is a subset of persons who fall under the Economy Based Un-Reserved Category and do not fall under any of the categories SC/ST/OBC across India or MBC in Tamil Nadu but have an annual family income of less than 8 lakh (US$10,000).
