SELF DECLARATION OF MINORITY COMMUNITY BY STUDENTS In order to ensure a more targeted approach to issues connected to the registered minority communities, namely Muslim, Christian, Budhist, Sikh, Parsi, and Jain, the Ministry of Minority Affairs was split off from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment on January 29, 2006. The Ministry's mandate includes developing overarching policies and plans as well as coordinating, assessing, and reviewing the legal framework and development initiatives for the benefit of minority communities.
